"Every person that owns or licenses personal information about a resident of the Commonwealth shall develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive information security program that is written in one or more readily accessible parts and contains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards." (See definitions at the bottom of this email.)

201 CMR 17.00 requires all businesses -- including the self-employed -- to implement and maintain a Written Information Security Program.
Court reporting firms have begun to receive letters from insurance companies asking for a copy of their WISP in order for them to pay the reporting firm. Do you have one? Do you know what you need to do to assure the confidential information of Massachusetts residents?
